“I am confident about my field recording album – Cliffs, Vultures & Cycles of Death – in the sense that where I thrive and where I need to get better. Self-doubt removed, everything becomes a light.”
Melissa Pons is a renowned field recordist and award-winning sound designer based in Portugal. She has independently released field recording albums, music compositions upon commissions and her work has been streamed and featured in several media, like the BBC and NPR.
She is one who learns a lot, has multiple interests and continuously expands her universe!
Melissa and Aslı (Field Recordist, Co-Founder at Vadi Sound) talk about our complex relationship with the more-than-human world, thriving for excellence and contributing to something good with our recordings and what it means to be a woman, or anyone other than a white man in audio/ sound design where women are still less than 5%. She asks; “Where do we fit in in all this?”
